Since we were all out with the flu leading up to Christmas, the children never gave their pre-school teachers a Christmas gift. So we thought it would be fun to put together a little Valentines Day treat instead.
When we got home yesterday afternoon Louis and Léonie put on smocks and got to work on these sweet wine bottle gift tags.
We kept things really simple and in line with our process-focused way of creating together. I had prepared the wine tags (cut card stock into thirds, round the corners if you wish, and cut out a round hole at the top), and a tray of simple supplies to use: red, pink and white paint, brushes, glitter glue and felt pens. The only thing I dictated was that the glitter glue went on last, when the paint had dried a bit, and no felt pens on wet paint. The rest was the steered by the children.
You could make a bunch of these tags in all sorts of colours for any occasion – I think I might put a bunch in with our wine so it’s easy to put together a simple hostess gift when we run out to a dinner. Older kids could write messages like “Thank you”, “Merry Christmas” or “Congratulations” on the tags as well.
We’re going to hang each tag on a good bottle of wine and attach a red rose and wish our pre-school teachers a Happy Valentines Day!
