I just found out that Little A’s nursery school is having a masquerade for Halloween next week. I wasn’t really expecting them to do anything for Halloween since it is still not that widely celebrated in Sweden.
Last year my friend Maggie threw an early Halloween party so that Alec wouldn’t miss out on his first Halloween when we moved back to Sweden. All his little friends dressed up – as a Starbucks cup, Andy Warhol (best baby costume EVER!), a zebra, a lion.
I ended up dressing Alec up as a super hero.
I had already bought this adorable onesie for him when we were visiting my parents in Vancouver. I put it on top of a pair of blue leggings and pulled his socks up to his knees. And then I found a party pack of foam super hero masks at Target that I used to make masks for Alec, my husband and me. Click here for a great template for DIY foam super hero masks.
This year I’m stumped. I could just go to the shop a few blocks away that has pretty good animal costumes and just choose one, but it would be more fun to DIY the costume – it makes it more unique! We have had some funny ideas, but I think it would be cool if we dress Alec up as something that he actually know what it is. For example, I don’t think he has a clue what a pirate is, but he loves horses and elephants…
I have less than a week to figure this out. Any ideas? Leave me a comment!
