Tomorrow is Bastille Day so I thought I would share some pictures of a French breakfast I hosted a few weeks ago. It was for my law school friend Caroline’s bridal shower. In Sweden we celebrate brides-to-be with a full day event, sort of a hen do, bridal shower and bachelorette party all in one. It starts with the bride getting kidnapped or otherwise surprised with her day, and it’s full of activities, games, and usually ends with a good party.
Caroline is marrying a Frenchman, so we had a bit of a French theme for her day. We all dressed up as Frenchly as we could for her arrival and I had put together a French-themed Vie enRose breakfast at our place when she arrived on a rainy morning in June.
We had croissants (of course!), pain au chocolate, baguettes, a very french cheese platter, marmalades, orange juice, pink champagne (and non-alcoholic alternatives for the probably half of the guest list that was openly or still secretly pregnant), café au laid, yogurt with berries and muesli and tea. And for favors, each girl got a little bag of vanilla and raspberry macarons. It was pouring rain (and actually colder that day in Stockholm than it was on Christmas Eve!) but we lit candles and played a Paris playlist and it was the start of a fabulous day that I hope Caroline will remember forever.
