Baby #2 is due to arrive in August and I can’t keep from nursery planning any longer!
Since this is our second baby I am not as focused on being pregnant (which doesn’t mean I am not feeling it – I am) and I’m not as occupied with trying to prepare for childbirth. When Alec was born, I became a mother and that was enormous. With this second baby, I’m already a mother, though the practical reality of having two such small children to take of is absolutely daunting. Since this is baby #2, we don’t have as huge a list of things to buy, and most of the things we do need to buy are pretty straightforward, since this time around, we already know more what we will need. Except for the double stroller, but that is under control. So, my big nesting outlet will be the new nursery!
We have a room to work with and it has potential. It’s a small room, off our kitchen, with an unusual shape. In one corner there is a built-in cupboard and one wall is completely rounded. It has a big window but the room is north-facing (like Alec’s room), so it’s not super light. The walls are the same light grey as in Alec’s room.
My ideal nursery for Baby #2 is light and bright, with a Sebra Kili crib (3), a comfy glider for breastfeeding (5), a Madeline Weinrib rug (4), a vintagey-feeling dresser as a changing station, a Jonas Bohlin Liv Lamp (1), bunting (2), some custom artwork (8) and a Butter Flying cloud and raindrop mobile (9). I also might be tempted to incorporate a few small hanging poms (8). I also sort of have my eye on this Stokke mini crib (6) as a bassinet for those first few weeks when Baby will be in our room.
Over the next few weeks I will be daydreaming about color schemes and luxury cribs, and making some real world decisions (which more than likely will not involve these luxury cribs). I’ll showcase some inspiring nurseries and nursery corners, and check out what the best stuff is on the market right now! Please come along for the journey – I look forward to your comments and input! This first week I’ll be looking into color schemes…
