This morning when my husband left for work, Alec got himself into a mood. Nothing would distract him. Not our usual morning dance, not his favourite book, nothing. Since none of Alec’s “old” stuff worked, I thought it might be time for something new, so I rummaged around until I found the IKEA farm that we bought him for his birthday/Christmas. Since he received sooo many presents in December, we never ended up giving him the farm. We put it away for a rainy day. And that rainy day is today (it’s not raining, but it’s snowing, we still have colds and we’re stuck inside, so close enough).
We have the farm and a set of extra animals (I think the pig with her piglets is so adorable) and a set with a truck and tractor. Bringing out a new activity definitely snapped Alec out of his mood, but he didn’t really get into playing with the animals etc. I think he will though. I like the simplicity of this toy and the endless playtime possibilities, so I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do with it when he wakes up from his nap.
IKEA really does have a lot of great toys for babies and children and they are super affordable. More tips to come!
