Alec is suddenly quite into books and stories. We read before naptime and bedtime and he has started turning the pages and looking through his favourite books by himself as well. This is wonderful news to me since I am all about reading!
This week we stopped into our favourite baby shop, B. Braithwaite and picked up a couple of new board books. I immediately liked the look of Bear Snores On when we picked it up – it is thicker than most board books, with more text and more of a story. And the pictures are more intricate than most books for babies. The books is recommended from two years and up, but eight-month-old Alec really likes it! We just read through it twice before naptime and the story kept his attention throughout. It is appealingly written in rhyme with some repetition as an anchor – and even small children seem to respond so well to rhyme and repetition. Alec especially liked the part when the bear sneezes. This is really a lovely book and we will be keeping our eyes open for more of Karma Wilson‘s stories the next time we are book shopping.
