Foodie Friday – The Béaba BabyCook

This morning Alec and I spent a small fortune at Williams Sonoma. Although our plan was to wait until Alec hit six months before starting him with tasters, it just feels like he’s ready now (at almost 5½ months old), so tomorrow he will have his first spoonful.

I have been coveting the Béaba Baby Food Maker for weeks. It’s French. It steams, blends, defrosts and warms homemade baby food. You can steam veggies and fruits to preserve vitamins and flavours, and then puree or blend to get the consistency you need. It’s teeny too, so it will fit nicely in our kitchen. This is a gadget I have been looking forward to for awhile (I actually first laid eyes on it in a store window in Lisbon over a year ago).

Besides the Baby Food Maker, we purchased some accessories – the multiportion freezer trays (in three colours, of course)  the food containers (“strongly” recommended by my friend Maggie) and the rice and pasta cooking attachment. Very excited about all of them!

Cooking for Baby Cookbook

We also bought Cooking for Baby, a recipe book of delicious-sounding food for babies and toddlers. The pictures are beautiful and the food sounds appetizing, fresh, and lovely. It gets good reviews so I’m really looking forward to trying out these recipes!

So now we’re set! We just have to decide what’s going to be on that first spoon!
